West Valley CDC
The mission of West Valley Community Development Corporation is to promote the social and economic welfare of residents of the West San Fernando Valley, especially low-income families, the elderly and the handicapped through the development and rehabilitation of affordable housing and the implementation of programs which will enhance and promote community economic development and neighborhood revitalization.
About
The West Valley Community Development Corporation (WVCDC) is a non-profit community-based organization incorporated in 1995 by a group of area residents, social service providers and local real estate professionals for the purpose of sponsoring community and economic development activities in the West San Fernando Valley. The corporation was formed with the assistance of San Fernando Valley Neighborhood Legal Services and the Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC) with the encouragement and support of Councilwoman Laura Chick (Third District). Presently, the service area served has been expanded to include all of Southern California.
WVCDC has been certified as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) by the City of Los Angeles and is a part of the Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC),California Collaborative and the Enterprise Foundation national network of community development corporations.
The WVCDC was incorporated in July, 1995 following a six- month formation process which· involved low income residents, social service providers, real estate and development specialists and planning professionals who live and work within the community it serves.
